12/31/2016 0 Comments The unComfortable comfort zoneFor a long time I contemplated starting a blog but I always considered myself as having nothing to say or lacking topics off the top of the dome that would keep the page interesting. The internet is flustered by trolls, comedians, conspiracy theorists, professional and unprofessional MUA, dozens of blogs and magazines, and I questioned how well I would fit into that world. I concluded the best way to go about taking this chance is to tailor mines to fit who I am. By starting this blog in addition to merging an advice column speaks volumes to my personality. In real life I give tasteful advice and I can get pretty talkative so the idea that I have ‘nothing to say’ really doesn’t even make sense and I don’t get why I would downplay myself like that.
I tend to stop myself before even trying and I think that when you do that enough times it can become a bad habit. I’ve decided to enter a personal journey where I push myself to do the things that ‘aren’t for me’ and stop the doubt before I even give it a jab. Why do we place so many doubts on ourselves before we even try? If there is no one in your corner rooting for you shouldn’t YOU always root for YOU? I am not aiming to dismiss the fear that new experiences bring but rather that I don’t let that fear prevent me from venturing out and fulfilling aspirations that manifest. This is a learning experience for both the readers and myself as I aim to make this advice blog as comforting and transactional as imagineable. Realisticly speaking I suspect this will be a challenge but you can always learn more from the roads that require substantial thinking and effort. It's easier to remember the lessons that once stressed and taunted your brain as you sat there and thought "This is stupid", "This doesn't make any sense", and "Why am I even stressing like this?" versus the quick and easy solutions that pour out rapidly like a 4-year old squeezing the life out of tubes of paint for arts & crafts. Therefore, throughout my journey and the challenges that are en route I wish to recollect: "Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't helping you." - Tim Harford
